4 reasons you should wait to upgrade to Windows 10

There are lots of reasons why Windows 10 is the best operating system yet but there are some very good reasons to wait before you make the leap of faith and make the change on your beloved PC/ Laptop/ Company to Windows 10.

1. Your machine might not be able to handle it!

We wouldn’t consider running Windows 10 on a machine with anything less than 4GB and a modern dual core processor. As a guideline, a decent system bought in the last 3 should be able to handle the upgrade. Even if you computer can handle the upgrade to Windows 10 it is possible that you will not be able to use your old peripherals (printer, scanner etc) after the upgrade.

2. You have a whole year to make the switch

If you choose to use the free upgrade to Windows 10 it is available for a whole year. Furthermore, Windows 7 and Windows 8 / 8.1 aren’t going anywhere just yet; they will continue be supported and updated for a least another 5 years.

3. It is going to take a lot of your time

From having to back up ALL of your data before hand to the long download and then acquainting yourself with your new system and not to mention not being able to use your machine whilst the upgrade is happening; upgrading to Windows 10 will be a considerable time sink.

4. It’s too new

The marketplace hasn’t tested the full compatibility of Windows 10 across all platforms and software. This means that software which you currently use may not work with the new operating system. Businesses, for whom stability is a primary consideration, we advise that you stay with Windows 7 or 8.1 for the time being as if it is working for you then upgrading for no extra functionality at the risk of interruption to your business isn’t worth it.

If you are still itching to make the upgrade or you aren’t sure whether your system can handle it, contact us now! We can help!

Please keep in mind that we do not recommend using the free upgrade from Windows as we do not recommend upgrading operating systems as it can cause an array of issues. However, if you are interested in changing your operating system to Windows 10 please do get in contact!
