Friday 23 December – office will close at 1:00pm

26 December – 2 January 2012 – closed

Tuesday 3 January 2012 – open (9am – 5:30pm)

BT outage blocks customers’ access to their webpages and email

On Tuesday 6/12/2011 from 1pm some of our clients using BT broadband have been experiencing problems affecting access to their websites and email.

We are pleased to inform that all ITC services are up and running and we are not aware of any interruption. The issue seems to be on BT DNS servers’ site. To solve this problem we recommend switching DNS to OPENDNS service: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

This solution has worked for most of our customers who use BT broadband.

ActionCOACH Office Launch

Rupert Walmsley of ITC was proud to be asked to speak yesterday at the grand opening of ActionCOACH Kevin Stansfield’s new offices, at Boyatt Wood District Centre, Eastleigh. Kevin asked Rupert to explain the coaching process from the client’s perspective, and to give examples of the work carried out and the achievements that have been reached in the 18 months we have been working together.

ITC didn’t have any problems finding Kevin’s new offices, as we had already visited it on several occasions while installing the Draytek wireless router, network switch, and computer systems that Kevin needed in place for his new office!

Everyone at ITC would like to wish Kevin Stansfield, his fellow coaches Niall Mellors and Colin Harding, and the rest of his colleagues Jane, Hannah, and Ankita the very best of luck in their new premises. You certainly deserve them!

Microsoft Telephone Scam targetting UK Clients

Last night a customer informed us that they received a phone call from a suspicious person, purporting to be from Microsoft, informing them that their computer had been sending out error reports to this individual and that if my customer provided him with access to his system, he would be able to investigate and resolve the problem on his computer. The customer’s suspicions were increased when the caller gave them an ’07′ telephone number to call back on.

We informed the customer:

Firstly, Microsoft does not make unsolicited phone calls to end users.
Secondly, any such attempt from an unknown person to gain access or be given any information related to your computer should be handled in the same way as if someone asked for your bank details, and that person should not be provided any information under any circumstances.

If you have any problems or error messages appearing on your computer, the first call to make should always be to your computer support team. If you don’t currently have a relationship with an IT firm, then ask around to see if someone can refer you to theirs, or failing that check your yellow pages for a local firm.

This scam has been going on for several years at least, and we’ve had it reported to us in waves throughout that time. We strongly recommend caution at all times when dealing with any such request over the phone.
