Office 365 or Microsoft Office 2016?
One of our most frequently asked questions is “What is the difference between Office365 and Microsoft Office 2016?”
Microsoft Office 365
365 is a subscription service that includes the most recent version of Office (currently 2016). It comes with the applications you’re familiar with, like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, plus extra online storage, ongoing tech support at no extra cost, and more.
Microsoft Office 2016
Microsoft Office 2016 is sold as a one-time purchase, which means you pay a single, up-front cost to get Office applications for one computer. One-time purchases are available for both PCs and Macs. One-time purchases don’t have an upgrade option, which means if you plan to upgrade to the next major release, you’ll have to buy it at full price.
Usually, the follow-up to this question is “Which should I go for?”
Microsoft wants users to go to 365, this is clear by the extras that are included with Office 365 including free OneDrive storage and ongoing updates.
We support our users going for either Office 365 or Office 2016 but we recommend Office 365. We recommend 365 because it spreads the cost of the Office suite, ensures you have access to the most up to date version, is transferable between PCs, and is scalable for your business.
