Threatening Spam Emails

Spam emails – you can’t escape them

But some of them are quite frightening. There has been a rise in scammers using threatening emails to try and get people to pay them money. These threatening emails can be full of implicit or explicit threat, neither of which is nice to receive. Here are 4 steps for dealing with threatening spam emails.

1. Don’t worry

It is horrible to receive threatening spam but it is important to remember that they are empty threats in an attempt to extort you for money.

2. Report the email to Fraud Aid

You should report the threatening spam to Fraud Aid as all spam emails sent to them are entered into their research database.

You can use this page to find the details that you need to send to Fraud Aid.

3. Ignore the emails

Once you have reported the email to Fraud Aid, if you receive any further emails then you should ignore them.

4. Remember there are exceptions to the rule

If the email contains personal or identifiable information about yourself or your family then the email may be more serious. Or if the email has come from someone you know. In these cases you should contact the police directly.

Example of Threatening Spam email

Hi

I want you to take this message seriously, if you value own your life and family, since this is not a joke.
I have been thinking for a very long time whether it is worth writing this message to you and decided that  you still have the right to know. I’ll try to be short. I received an order to kill you, because your activity causes discomfort to a particular man. I studied you for a long period oftime and decided to give you a second chance, despite the specifics of my job, the business rules of which don’t allow me to do this, as this will damage my reputation (almost 11 years of perfect executions)in some circles. But since this is my last order (I hope) i decided to break some rules.

In general, let’s Break it down now. I suggest you pay the amount of 0.7 Btc. I only accept btc. Information on how to forward funds in this currency you will be able to Google. Here are my payment details below:

When i will receive funds – I’ll tell you the name of the person order came from, as well as all other the evidence i have. You can use them with the police. I wouldn’t suggest you to call the police, cause you have a very little time (2 days) and the police simply will not have  time to find out anything.
Responding to this letter doesn’t make any sense, because i use single use mailbox, i care about my anonymity. I’ll contact you as soon as i will get money.
I sincerely feel sorry that you became my victim.
