Implementation of new SmarterMail Password Policy
In order to improve on the security of our email user accounts we are going to be implementing a new password policy as of the 1st December 2014. This new policy will require users to have a secure password that is a minimum of 8 characters long and has at least 1 numerical character in it and 1 symbol.
What does this mean for you?
SmarterMail Webmail users
If you use the SmarterMail web interface and your password does not comply with our new security requirements then when you log in you will be prompted to update your password to something more secure.
Mobile device/ Email client users
If you do not use our web mail client and instead use your mobile device or email client, such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, to access your emails then you will not be prompted to change your password. However, we recommend that you go to the web address https://mail.customerdomain.co.uk (replacing customerdomain.co.uk with your domain) and log in with your Username and Password where you will then be prompted to create a more secure password.
