What small businesses owners need to keep an eye on in 2016

2016 has only just begun but we have already made our predictions for what topics are going to be hot for small business owners this year.

There are several security factors which are going to be at the forefront of many small business owners minds this year.

Protection against cyber crime – Phishing attacks alone increased by 21% in 2015  by cyber criminals and their tools are getting more sophisticated. It is time to put some serious consideration into security measures which could save your company time, money and a headache!

Information protection – We would like small businesses to be more aware of the information that they are sharing and who with and the safeguards that should be in place to protect the business. It is important to be aware of the fact that the more insecure locations information is kept (including in heads) the more likely it is to be compromised.

“Pah! Who needs a computer anymore”

Emails, instant messaging, document reading/ editing, internet surfing… it is no wonder most people have a mobile device of sorts attached to them at all times. Mobile devices are blurring the line between work and home life. We’re going to be keeping an eye on the latest mobile devices, related security concerns and the expansion of the mobile device realm.

In 2015 we saw a considerable leap in small businesses moving towards professional email solutions. Is this due to ever-growing email archives? The greater need for compliance? Larger mailbox capacity? or all the added extras that come with investing in professional email? We think it is all of the above – but one thing is for sure, professional email is on the up in 2016!

Keep an eye on our upcoming blog posts this year for more information on all of the above.
